About Me
Tricia Borthwick, a Belfast-based harpist, brings a unique trans-Atlantic flair to her music. As a professional musician, she enjoys performing a diverse repertoire that includes classical, pop, American folk, Celtic, and more. After a brief hiatus, she is excited to return to the professional music community.
Originally from American Southwest, Tricia began studying the harp at the age of five, having first learned the basics of reading music through piano lessons. She has had the privilege of studying under esteemed harpists such as Bonnie Mohr, Rebecca Foreman (Arizona State University), Misty Dawn Warren, Elaine Brewer (University of Kansas), Tabitha Reist Steiner (Baker University), and the late Dr. Carrol McLaughlin (University of Arizona/World Harp Congress).
Tricia's harp performance journey continued in her adolescence when she played background music for afternoon tea and dinners at a local bed and breakfast in Northeastern Kansas. Her talent soon led to an invitation to perform with the String Orchestra at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. Outside of her formal harp education, she has played music for hundreds of weddings, corporate events, funerals/memorial services, church services, and more.
Additionally, she has performed in multiple seasons of The Nutcracker at the Topeka Performing Arts Center and A Kansas Nutcracker for the Lawrence Arts Center, and toured with the University of Arizona's world-renowned harp ensemble, HarpFusion.
